A small slotted holder cut in the shape of a lotus in full bloom — cobalt petals fanning out around a sunburst of yellow, a red bud at the heart, and two green pads spreading below with pale veins drawn across them. Every color sits inside its own thin brass wire, cloisonné-style, and the whole thing is finished matte black on the back and base.
Both faces are painted, so it looks right from either side of a table. For something this small, the wirework is remarkably fine.
Made for napkins, but just as good holding letters on a desk or a stack of cards by the door.
- Material: Enamel over metal with brass cloisonné wire, matte black back and base
- Condition: Good vintage — a small loss of enamel at one petal edge and light wear along the gilt wire; colors bright, structurally sound
- One-of-a-kind: Yes
