Frosted Glass Nautilus Shell Box, Lidded

A heavy glass box shaped like a nautilus shell, made in two halves — a shallow base and a domed lid that seats down onto it, so the seam disappears into the spiral. Each half runs from a fluted, wave-cut edge in through a tightening curl at the center, and the glass shifts as it goes: clear and prismatic through the ribs, softening to a milky frost across the spiral.

Closed, it reads as one solid shell and you have to look twice to find the join. The mold work is good — crisp ribs, a properly tapered spiral, and the underside finished as carefully as the top.

Rings and earrings on a dresser, paper clips on a desk, or nothing at all on a shelf where the light can get at it.
