A bright cerulean hardcover with a palm tree blind-embossed dead center — no ink, just the impression in the board, so it only shows when the light catches it. MAJESTIC ISLAND WORLDS in white down the spine with the National Geographic border.
Published by the National Geographic Society in 1987, from their Special Publications division. Inside, the photography ranges further than the palm tree suggests — a skier on New Zealand's Tasman Glacier is on page four — with work by Sam Abell, Bill Curtsinger, and Michael Yamashita.
The blue is loud in the best way. Face it out on a shelf and let it do the work.
