Blue cloth boards, gilt spine, and page after page of Oskar Kokoschka's drawings — chalk crayon portraits, a woman at a café table in a few unhurried pencil strokes, faces caught fast and left alone. The paper is thick and cream and turns beautifully.
Edited by Ernest Rathenau, published by University of Miami Press in 1970. The endpapers are a deep mustard-gold, which is a detail we weren't expecting and now can't stop looking at.
An easy way to get real drawing into a room — or leave it open on a stand and turn the page when the mood strikes.
